Greetings Coffee Drinkers,
Today I am creating a new coffee blend for a customer requesting “something with medium body, not too bold, but definitely rich”. Okie dokie. That is like asking for light and dark at the same time. Let me explain what I am doing (no, I won’t share the details) to create this new yummy java. I am blending a variety of coffees that fit the description and will select a couple for the final testing. I will taste the finalists hot, warm, and cold to be sure the flavor profile is pure at each temperature. This is a fun task for me and I will share this coffee with you when I have completed the task.
We are hearing good news about the economy turning around. It sounds like the comeback will be slow and steady, yet positive on a national level. We have all learned how to be more thrifty and profitable. Examine expenses and evaluate profit margins to determine what goes and what stays. Determine the most efficient staffing for your business, having enough people on duty to handle the crowd and not lose business without wasting manpower.
Samples prove the value of the product and take away the risk. Customers vote with their dollars by buying your products. Track what the customers want and have a customer centered menu and offerings. This will vary slightly depending on where you are located.
While traveling recently, I was staying in a motel that offered coffee from a local coffee shop. There was coffee in the rooms and lobby. I would also recommend coupons for discounts at the coffee shops.
What are your thoughts on the Starbucks Via instant coffee? Personally, I believe they are diluting their branding image, opening doors for the real specialty coffee cafes and independents.
Tip: Proper proportions for brewed coffee are 2 tablespoons per cup of water. Be sure the grind is appropriate for your brewer. Finer for espresso, coarser for French Press.
Make it a great week and take time for a coffee break. J
